Tried printing 3x5 cards and they just jammed time after time. Looking a little closer at specs [just bought this on Sun the 6th], that it supports 3.5 x 5 index cards which is a weird size. Is this true - will not support 3x5's or am i not doing something correctly?
Bought this to replace HP Pro 8600 which printed 3x5 cards all day long.

You are correct.
This printer cannot print 3x5 inch cards.
Commentary - not to be confused with HP policy, HP statements, or any HP service
The 6900 is not quite a budget printer; the printer is not in the same league as the vaunted Officejet Pro 8600 series.
The 8600 series, including the newer Officejet Pro 8630 are discontinued.
Example - Look at the specs in the store catalog "specs"
The Officejet Pro 8740 prints 3x5 inch cards and just about anything else that a printer of this size can print. The 8740 is a nice printer (in my opinion); it costs a lot more than the 6900 series. Reminder: Not all the 8700 series printers are the same. Always read the Specifications for a particluar model you like.
