I can't find a replacement "black" ink cartridge for the far left side slot (not the photo slot) for my printer without buying colored cartridges too which I don't need. The HP 564 packaging says it fits the 7525 but it DOES NOT fit into the first slot...it's TOO LARGE. I bought one for $15 so I know it doesn't fit, and I refilled my original with Costco refill for another $7 and that doesn't work either! It shows the cartridge is empty and it is not. It is $40 to buy the entire package of colored cartridges which does include the smaller fitting cartridge. Any solutions other than ditch the printer and buy a new one, and not an HP one? Anyone have success in finding the smaller 564 black ink cartridge that fits the HP 7525?

The cartridge on the left end, the same size as the color cartrdiges, is the Photo cartridge, not the Black cartridge. You can buy it in the store or from HP or others online. The Black cartridge is physically wider than the color or Photo cartridges.
The 564 black cartridge has a pentagon on the cartridge but a circle on the box.... The Photo cartridge has a bow tie on the cartridge and a camera on the box.
The document here may help. It is available in the standard or XL size.
BTW, if a cartridge is refilled it will continue to show as empty unless the chip on the cartrdige is replaced or reprogrammed. I would suggest taking it back to Costco for a refund, they only did half the job.

The HP Print Quality Diagnostic report leads to confusion. It shows a chart of which color cartridges need replacing and names of the cartridges. The first, far left chart is labeled "Black" and the far right chart is labeled "Photo". So the user is lead to believe the "Black" cartridge needs to be replaced if that block has no ink in it, when in fact that first cartridge is the "Photo" cartridge, not the "Black".

Thanks for mentioning that, I will report it to someone in HP that should be able to address this.

Hi @Aurelien
Re. the diagnostic report showing Black & Photo in the wrong places - can you please check which version of firmware you're on? Just trying to figure out if this is an old FW bug.
FYI the latest FW is available here..
Thanks, Ciara
