Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All - I just upgraded my wireless security from WEP to WPA2, and I cannot print to it.

I stepped through the Wireless setup on the 7525 and the configuration seems to have worked.

I printed the Wireless Network Test Results and all is well, no errors on the printout.

I can print using the USB cable.

I'm not sure that it is material but I also started using OpenDNS, and made that change at the same time.  I wouldn't think that would make a difference but I'm mentioning it just in case.

Unfortunately I can't print wirelessly, I received the 'Can't communicate' error message.

Any help?

Thanks.

Not a WPA2 issue.  DNS???  Go back in the router and reset it back to your defaults provided by your ISP.

Let’s download and run the HP Print and Scan doctor, what does this say?

Glad everything is working for you.

Sabretooth - thanks for the reply, however I just posted the issue and it isn't resolved.  The setting on the router is WPA2 personal.

Any thoughts on the cause and resolution?

Thanks,
Doug

Ah, now I see the issue.

First, reset the printer back to Network defaults.  Now use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the front panel and reconnect to your routers SSID.  Now try

Hi - unfortunately that did not solve the problem.

Well what didn't' work???? Please explain in detail every step you did and the status of each step. I have no crystal ball here.

Ok, thanks for your help.

I first reset back to network defaults, and then walked through the wizard as you suggested.

Blue light is On and it said it was successful.

I still can't print from my computer, nor can I ping it at the printer address that shows up in the Test Results printout page.

Perhaps this is related to my switch to using OpenDNS, and not the switch from WEP to WPA2?  With OpenDNS I had to repoint the DNS settings on my FIOS-provided router to use those specified by OpenDNS.  There is some chatter on the OpenDNS forums about having to add an entry into a hosts file for some printers.

All is good!

I first wanted to leave the DNS settings as-is and run through the second half of your suggestion:

* Downloaded and ran the scan tool.  It could find the driver but couldn't communicate.

* The tool suggested power cycling the router and the printer.  I did that on both.

* The printer must have then connected since it printed a document in the print queue without me doing anything.

* I reran the scan, and it found the printer.

* I clicked 'Fix Printer'.

* It updated some stuff and completed.

Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it.

Ok Sabretooth - an update for you:

So while power-cycling the printer and the router made everything work, it appears that when the printer goes into Sleep/power save mode that it loses connection somehow.

If I print a document from my printer, I get the 'can't communicate' error.  However, all I need to do is pull the plug on the printer and plug it back in and it will print the document.

I can then print another document and it will work fine until it goes back to sleep.

Sleep is set to 5 minutes.  Auto-off is turned off.
