HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Officejet Pro 7740 keeps going offline if it sits for more than 5min or so.  I have to run the "Troubleshooter" and the printer comes to life right away printing all items in the que without any further prompting.  Then if it sits for a time I have to do this procedure all over again.  I am doing this 10 or more times a day at this point.

Things to know;

All software has been updated (including firmware)

I have run trouble shooting and checks from HP Smart

I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled again

None of these things fixed the problem for more than a few hours.

Bring up the maintenance menu and see if you can disable sleep

If not in the control panel then use HP Smart to get to the printer setup

If the printer is not waking up the problem can be the network or the computer not sending a wakeup message. A quick fix is to set the sleep to off or never. Access the printers embedded web page

If there is no option to disable sleep then you need to make a change in the modem/router

This article is complicated and the printer is different but the solution worked.

I assume you have networked the printer to the modem/router and you are NOT using WiFI direct from your PC to the printer..

Let me know  if a problem.
