I have been fighting to get this device to print reliably since I got it months ago. At one time it printed "okay" so long as I disconnected from my Cisco VPN first. I'm mostly trying to print PDF drawings on 11 x 17. The printer is connected to my wifi, as well as my laptop-they just can't seem to sync together. I don't know if this is firewall related, but it may be. The Scan Doctor cannot connect/find the printer. Any suggestions to get this resolved?

Welcome to the HP support community.
Restore the printer to the original network settings
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ). 2. Touch Network Setup.
3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.
4. Touch Yes.
5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.
Set up the printer on your wireless network using Wireless setup Wizard
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).
2. Touch ( Settings ).
3. Touch Wireless Settings.
4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

However, I still have to turn the printer off and on again-several times sometimes-to get it to print. Is there a fix for that? I have to disconnect from my VPN, turn the printer on, then try to print but it is intermittent. Some days are better than others, I'm wondering why this is?

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Try to print.
Assign a manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
- On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Reports. Touch Network Configuration Page. A Network Configuration Page prints up to four pages of information.
Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wireless.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.

I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
