I've owned my printer now for about 2 months and have yet to figure out why when I print borderless, the printer is outputting pages with a top border. It's more like it's shifted the document and leaves a .25cm space at the top of the page and cuts off the bottom. I have selected in the printer paper tray settings 11x17 photo.

In the document print settings, I have selected the paper size as tabloid borderless, selected various options for print to fit, actual size, or shrink and it never actually prints correctly. It displays in the preview properly.

Has anyone run into this before? Any possible fixes?

I had this issue previously when printing from a mac to an older HP printer and always had to send the files to my windows machine. When using that windows machine, it would print correctly. From the mac, never. I don't have this option anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Reloading the paper and adjusting the print settings may resolve the issue, let's try these steps:

1.) Raise the output tray, and then pull out the input tray extender as far as possible.

2.) Remove any paper that is currently loaded in the input tray.

3.) Slide out the paper width guides as far as possible.

4.) Insert a stack of clean, unused paper into the input tray with the short edge forward and the print side down.

5.) Position the stack of paper in the center of the input tray, and then slide the stack forward until it stops.

6.) Adjust the paper width guides so that they rest against the stack of paper. Do not push the guides in so tightly that they bind against the paper.

7.) Lower the output tray, pull out the output tray extender as far as possible, and then flip up the paper catch.

Once you load the paper, use the steps below to adjust the print settings:

1.) Open the photo that you want to print, then click File, and then click Print.

2.) Select your printer from the Printer drop-down list, if it is not already selected.

3.) Select your paper size from the Paper Size drop-down list.

4.) Select the Paper Type/Quality or Media & Quality menu. To print a borderless photo or brochure, click on the box next to Edge-to-edge.

5.) Select the paper type that matches the paper loaded in the printer.

6.) Click Print.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi and thanks for your reply, I wish it were this simple.

Adjusting the paper and ensuring it is in the tray properly was the first thing I tried and it made no difference - the paper was in the tray properly.

See attached image - this is supposed to have a black border around the entire page. You can see it's not printing on 2 edges and off on the other two.

I'm also having similar issues when printing borderless on 8.5/11. I have simply resorted to print on a secondary printer for those.

Little frustrated - purchased this printer specifically for tabloid and also borderless printing and I'm stuck using a cheap $70 printer to do my letter sized and have wasted countless tabloid pages to try fix this.

Also, not sure if it makes any difference but the diagram/info you have is for a different printer than what I have.

Any chance there is another solutionIMG_3047.jpg

In order to print borderless, Edge-to edge setting has to be enabled. If you have not tried adjusting the print settings. You may use the steps below to adjust the print settings:

  1. Click File, and then click Print.

  2. Select your printer from the Printer drop-down list, if it is not already selected.

  3. Select your paper size from the Paper Size drop-down list.

  4. Select the Paper Type/Quality or Media & Quality menu.

       NOTE:

To print a borderless, click on the box next to Edge-to-edge.

  5. Select the paper type that matches the paper loaded in the printer.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

Your instructions are slightly different for my printer, I'm unable to follow those steps. Here is the steps I take.

On my system - File --> Print-->select printer-->click Page Setup-->re-select printer-->Paper Size-->tabloid borderless-->Landscape.

Based on that, one would think it would print accurately in my opinion.

For clarity, I am using MacOS 10.14 is that makes a difference. However, I had this issue on the older version of MacOS as well.

Thanks again for your reply. I'm hoping you have another solution here.

It looks like you have all the correct settings selected, let's try to remove Margins:

1.) Click File, and then click Print.

2.) Select your printer from the Printer drop-down list, if it is not already selected.

3.) In the drop down list next to 'Paper Size' choose 'Manage Custom Sizes'.

4.) In this window, click the plus sign, rename (double click on it to be able to edit the name)

5.) Enter the Page Size Width 432mm and height 279mm.

6.) Below Printer Margins, simply type a zero into the top, right, bottom and left spaces.

7.) Click Ok and try to print.

Unfortunately this did not work either.

I tried printing it from Adobe Illustrator and by adjusting the size of the document within the program - essentially just making it smaller than the actual output - I've been able to make it work. Not perfect but certainly better.

Aboslutely unimpressed with this.
