Display now says - Printer failure or there is a problem with the ink system ink system. I originally was have print head printing issues. Cleaned the print head. Then printer said all my cartridges needed replaceing. Cartidges were fine and I got it to recongize the cartridges. Tried to print a test page and failed again, with the printer failure message. I have removed the cartridges, did a hard reset on the printer untill I'm blue in the face and can't get the printer to work. Does anyone have a solution?

@Hamman73, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

The error might occur if the printer firmware is outdated. Download the firmware update from the HP website, and then install it on your printer.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch the HP ePrint icon

  2. Wait for the printer to connect to the HP ePrint server.

When the printer connects to the server, the HP ePrint status displays.

  3. Touch Settings on the bottom left corner of the screen.

  4. Touch Printer Update, and then touch Check for Update Now.

I had already verified that my firmware was up to date and I still have the same problem.

I replace the print head and installe startup cartridges. The printer got all the way to the align print head and failed again with the message Printer Failure. After all the thousands of these printers that have been sold, you would think by now that HP would have a good idea of what to look for to fix this problem. Obviously pulling the cartridges and print head in and out is not the solution. I just can't believe that no one has a data base on what the failure is to a specific component or issue. Whats up HP?"
