After receiving or making a voice phone call on my shared voice/fax telephone line, my 8710 does not go back into Sleep Mode. I have to do a power restart through the Tools admin function. Then it will go into Sleep Mode. This seems to have started after I updated my PC to Windows 10 Build 2004.
Any ideas?
Update: This issue is definitely related to fact that the Fax phone line is connected to our home phone line. If I pick up my phone to make a call, the printer's display lights up right away when dial tone is achieved. Same happens on on an inbound call. If the printer is in Sleep Mode, and I print something, the display lights up, but then goes into Sleep Mode after the configured time is reached. I do no think this anything to do with Windows since the PC is not being used when calls happen.
Help? Anyone home?

@Golfgeezer, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Try the steps below-
Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Adjust the sleep mode settings
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, touch the leaflet symbol.
2. Touch Sleep Mode, and then touch the desired option.
Keep the printer under observation and let me know.

Hello - I have done all those steps. The only thing that works is unplugging the telephone line to the printer so that the printer does not 'see" any calls. The printer works fine with printing and scanning, going into Sleep Mode as configured after usage. Only phone line activity causes the printer to stay "awake".

Thanks for waiting!
Follow the steps below-
Assign manual IP to the printer
The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.
For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers
If you still face the same issue, the only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps!

TEJ1602,
Well, my printer has always been configured with a static IP. However, based on your PM to me to do a Semi-Full Reset, that has solved the issue! Of course I had to reconfigure the printer, but now it is functioning as desired.
Thanks!
