HP Officejet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My old HP 86100 Officejet Pro had a very useful (and used!) "cancel print" button on the printer screen. I replaced this printer recently with an HP Officejet Pro 8710 but I cannot find a "cancel print" button or any other advice about the topic in "help".

How do I set up the cancel print facility on the 8710?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

When you are sending a print job to the printer, observe carefully when it's printing becuase on the front panel, there is an "X" that you can tap on to cancel the printing.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help. Strange that there is no mention of this anywhere in the HP support system. I am sure that many others find a need to cancel print jobs from time to time and save money! Surely this is a tip which should be in the manual.

Glad to see the question already asked.  But the solution doesn't seem to work.  I tap on the X while a job is printing, but it only ever takes me to a Network Summary screen. It does not stop the print job.  The only thing I'm left with is to immediately power off the printer.

What now?

The last question in this thread has been unanswered for nearly a year.  Some help please.

Luckily, when I tried to tap on the very small 'x' in the upper right corner, the print did cancel.  Frustrating though, since the screen is SO small the 'taps' don't always register as desired.

I hope the person who wasn't able to get the 'x' to work has since had better luck.    🙂

That red X is so small I'd have to use a toothpick to press it. When I do it gives me something else. It is a BAD DESIGN on this model printer. I don't want to waste paper and ink to allow something wrong to print because your design is bad. Very disappointed in this model as all lettering is so small and had to see. My last HP 8600 was amazing. I don't know why they mess up something that is not broken!!!!!!
