HP 9020 saying

802.11  Wireless

You cannot use the device’s wireless function because it has been disabled.  For more information, contact your network administrator or the person who set up the device.

I have tried factory resetting but it is not letting me connection wirelessly.

Hi @DennisC323,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 9020 printer is experiencing issues with its wireless function being disabled. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue.

Check Wireless Settings

  • Access the Control Panel: Go to the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wireless or Network settings.
  • Enable Wireless: Ensure that the wireless feature is enabled. Sometimes, it may be turned off inadvertently.

Network Configuration

  • Network Setup Wizard: Use the printer's control panel to run the Wireless Setup Wizard. This will help your printer detect available networks and allow you to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
  • Check Wi-Fi Credentials: Ensure that you are using the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

Reset Wireless Settings

If the wireless function is still disabled, try resetting the wireless settings:

  • Go to Settings: On the printer, navigate to Network > Wireless > Wireless Setup.
  • Select Reset: Look for an option to reset or restore the wireless settings to default.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn Off Printer: Unplug the printer from the power source and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug It Back In: Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer on.

Firmware Update

Make sure your printer firmware is up to date:

  • HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device to check for firmware updates.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi

Once the wireless function is enabled, reconnect to your Wi-Fi network:

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard or enter the Wi-Fi settings through the printer's control panel.

Use HP Support

If the issue persists, consider contacting HP Support for further assistance. They may have specific instructions based on your printer model and issue.

Note:

  • Make sure your router is functioning properly and other devices can connect to it.
  • If you have made any recent changes to your network or router settings, consider reverting them or ensuring they are compatible with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Keep in mind that the moment you connect a ethernet cable into the printer, the WIFI is disabled.
