I also had the same problem but I rang HP here in the UK and they confirmed there is a problem with this printer, they gave me two options either wire the printer and download new software or they will replace the printer.  I decided to get it replace but they have none of my type of printer left HP9022e so they are up-grading me with the latest version of the HP officejet Pro.   

So if your having problems just call them, I was on the phone no more than 10mins and was sorted there and then.

I think you summed this up perfectly! I gave the same printer and the warranty just expired and cannot appear to find any way of getting support from HP for a known issue on all these printers!  How do we raise this with the ACCC?
