My HP 9025 printer won't print from my computer and says "door open."  Door seems closed properly, no obstructions or debris.  No error msgs on printer control panel,  error msg is from my WIN 10 laptop.  Printer does print a test page and does xerox properly.

Hi @Rheba,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 9025 printer is displaying a "door open" message on your Windows 10 laptop, even though the door seems closed properly and there are no obstructions, you can try the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues between the printer and the computer. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if the door is closed, there might be a small piece of paper stuck inside causing the issue. Open the printer cover and carefully check for any paper jams. Make sure to remove any bits of paper you find.
  • Check Sensors: The "door open" message may be triggered by a sensor issue. Inspect the areas around the doors and openings for sensors. Ensure that there is no dust or debris obstructing the sensors.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Windows 10 laptop. Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause communication problems. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Check Print Queue: Open the print queue on your computer and make sure there are no pending print jobs that might be causing the issue. Cancel any stuck print jobs.
  • Check Print Settings: Ensure that the print settings on your computer are correct. Open the print dialog, and verify that the correct printer is selected, and the print settings match your requirements.
  • Reinstall the Printer: Remove the printer from your Windows 10 laptop and reinstall it. Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," select your printer, and click on "Remove device." Then, reconnect the printer and let Windows reinstall the drivers.
  • Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 10 operating system is up to date. Updates can sometimes include fixes for printer-related issues.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with the "door open" message on your HP 9025 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden 4:  I apologize for being slow to let you know that your very thorough list of troubleshooting steps did resolve my printer problem.  I had to remove the printer from the settings, and then re-install it.  Now it is working fine.  Thank you very much!
