I purchased an HP 9125e earlier this year after an older HP printer carriage failed. This printer locks up often where the touchscreen will not respond and power button doesn't work. When this happens, I have to power cycle it if I want to use it. Sometimes I can't connect to it over the network (wifi) but the front touchscreen still operates. On one occasion, I saw 'Event Code: F0.01.01.04', and the printer eventually rebooted itself. The firmware is up-to-date with the latest version.
I'm not sure what else I can try besides setting up a service request. I'm open to trying other steps if there are any suggestions.

Hi @cococr
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I’m really sorry your HP 9125e keeps locking up—it’s exhausting when the touchscreen freezes and the power button becomes unresponsive, especially after you’ve already replaced a previous printer.
Let’s walk through a few steps that may help stabilize performance and reduce these interruptions.
Steps to resolve freezing and Event Code F0.01.01.04
1. Perform a full power reset
This clears residual charge and resets the embedded controller.
- Power off the printer
- Disconnect the power cable from the rear and wall outlet
- Wait 60 seconds
- Reconnect the cable directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords)
- Power on and observe startup behavior
2. Disable Web Services temporarily
Web Services can occasionally cause network instability.
- On the touchscreen, go to Settings > Web Services > Remove Web Services
- Confirm removal
- Restart the printer
- If stability improves, you can re-enable Web Services later via the HP App
3. Reconfigure wireless connection
If the printer is freezing during network activity, a fresh connection may help.
- On the touchscreen, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Restore Network Defaults
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi using Wireless Setup Wizard
- Ensure the printer is on the same network band (2.4 GHz preferred) as your devices
- Avoid guest networks or VPNs
4. Check for background jobs or queued tasks
Frozen screens can result from stuck print jobs.
- Open the HP App
- Select your printer > Print Queue
- Cancel any pending or stalled jobs
- Restart the printer
5. Update via USB if Wi-Fi is unstable
Even if firmware is current, reinstalling it via USB can refresh system stability.
- Visit the HP OfficeJet 9125e Driver Page
- Download the latest firmware .exe
- Connect the printer via USB to a Windows PC
- Run the installer and follow prompts
6. Reset printer settings
This restores factory defaults without affecting firmware.
- On the touchscreen, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults
- Confirm reset
- Reconfigure Wi-Fi and preferences after restart
Let me know if the freezing persists after these steps or if the Event Code reappears. Once the network and firmware are refreshed and the system is cleared of background tasks, your printer should feel much more responsive and reliable.

Hi @Hawks_Eye,
Thank you for the reply. I performed some of the steps you suggested:
For step 1, I unplugged the power and left it off for a while, and plugged it back in. Soon after boot, it says 'Internet Connection Unavailable'. This lasts for a few seconds and goes away. I'm assuming this is normal behavior but let me know if it isn't.
For step 2, I followed the steps but could not find those options.
For step 3, I reconfigured Wifi. The option for 5 GHz Band Frequency is enabled by default. I turned that off and confirmed that it is connecting at 2.4 GHz.
For step 4, there were no background jobs or queued tasks.
I will let the printer run with this configuration for the moment. If it locks up again, I will continue with further steps.
Thanks again!

You are Welcome @cococr
Thanks for the detailed follow-up—you're doing everything right.
Yes, that brief “Internet Connection Unavailable” message during boot is expected behavior. The printer checks for connectivity early in its startup sequence, and if the Wi-Fi handshake takes a few seconds, it may briefly show that alert before resolving itself. As long as it clears quickly and the printer connects, it’s not a concern.
Switching to 2.4 GHz was a smart move—HP printers tend to maintain more stable connections on that band, especially in environments with multiple devices or walls interfering with 5 GHz signals.
If the lockups return, the next steps would be:
- Disable Web Services temporarily (Settings > Web Services > Turn Off), then re-enable after a reboot.
- Check for firmware updates via the HP App or the printer’s control panel.
- Run the Diagnose & Fix tool to scan for deeper system conflicts.
Let me know how it behaves over the next few days. You're on a solid path.
Take care, and stay fantastic!
