Hi @SB_123-

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw is encountering a printing issue where it stops after the first few pages.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check the Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and ensure there are no stuck or paused print jobs. Clear the queue and try printing again.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support page to check for and install the latest firmware updates for your printer. Outdated firmware can cause printing interruptions.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure the printer is set to handle large print jobs. Go to the printer's settings and check for options like "Spooling" or "Print Directly to Printer." Switching to "Spooling" might help.

Inspect Network Connection:

  • If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure the connection is stable. A weak or intermittent connection can cause the printer to stop mid-job. Consider using a wired connection for large print jobs.

Test with Smaller Print Jobs:

  • Try printing smaller batches (e.g., 10-20 pages at a time) to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if the problem is related to the size of the document.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can resolve temporary glitches.

Check for Paper Jams or Overheating:

  • Inspect the printer for any paper jams or signs of overheating. Ensure the paper tray is properly loaded and the printer is in a well-ventilated area.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
