HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw purchased directly from HP's store on December 11, 2020, stopped working last week. The problems started when the toner cartridges were changed out with HP cartridges. The printer shows as offline on the USB and NW printer objects in Windows 10. The control display stopped working too: shows black. The printer powers on and off with the button on the front. While powering on and off it makes normal noises. When I close the front access door it makes lots of normal sounds. When I open and close the paper tray it makes lots of normal sounds.

I have tried to connect a new computer & cable via USB and it did not detect the printer.

The printer did not show up on a network scan of IP addresses.

What could be causing the computer not to be seen for printing?

What could be causing the display to stop working?

Are they the same cause?

Try this, open and close front door four times.  This should produce an engine test.  See if anything prints.  If you can, plug in a network cable and see if any network lights come on. Lights are at printer network connection.  Looks like a defective control panel, T6B80-60101.  If the print engine is working,  my guess is the control panel is bad.  Ebay should have some.   Should not be a hard fix.  Remove back cover of control panel (usually two clips), 2-3 screws.  Then remove control panel from mount and remove flat cables.

The network port lights do not light up on the printer or the switch. I appreciate you trying to help.

If you get no network lights, see if the printer is recognized by a computer via USB. If not the formatter is likely the issue.

Thanks for trying to help. However, I have tried to connect a new computer & cable via USB and it did not detect the printer.

Would the formatter going out cause the front panel, network, and USB to go out?

I replaced control panel and nothing changed. Still no life to the panel but printer engine works.

Any luck? I'm in the same position. What's the next step with formatter?

Thanks

If the print test passes that verifies that the DC controller is working so your issue is going to be the formatter.
