Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am unable to print anything on my HP Colour LaserJet Pro M252dw. I have been using this printer for the last 6 years with no issues. I feel that the latest Windows 10 (64bit) updates may have caused this issue. I can print from a USB drive connected to the printer without problems, so I know that the printer itself works.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers as suggested in the article below.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/HP-Color-LaserJet-Pro-M252dw-stopped-pr...

I have updated the Firmware on the printer too.

When a print a document, the Printer display message “Printing document” with HP symbol. After a while the Print Notification message pops up: “Error printing on HP Colour LaserJet Pro M252 PCL 6 <file-name>”.

After a about 3 minutes (approx.) it tries to print again – I can hear the printer noise (as if its about to print) for 2-3 seconds and it stops. Its then stuck in this loop until I cancel the print job.

The printer is connected via the home network.  I have 3 other PCs, and I get the same problem with all of them.

The common denominator here could be the router. The settings are the same on the router to when the printer was working fine.

Please help.

Regards,

Sanjay.

Moved a little further….

I wanted to isolate the router, so connected the PC to the printer via an ethernet hub, with just the printer & PC connected.

I was able to print without any problem!!

I then connected the Printer & PC back to the home network via the router (note that I did not power-off the printer).

I was still able to print without any problems.

Connected via home network & router, I powered off/on the printer, and tried to print. I again get the same problem (unable to print).

I waited until the printer returned to the Home screen (after it times out trying to print). I then disconnected the Printer’s ethernet cable for 30 seconds, and reconnected.

Now I am able to print without problems from any of my PCs.

Any pointers as to what this could be – most appreciated.

Regards,

Sanjay.
