Hi All,

I know this is out of warranty but i have just put the ink in, tried to connect it via USB and turn on and off and unplug and reset and still not able to get anything printed. Support doesn't help. Tried to refresh data and it's just not working, open to suggestions.

@JohnJohnJOHN27, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Remove and Reinstall Printer on macOS

Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners

Select the HP DeskJet 4120e, then click the minus (-) button to remove it.

Disconnect the USB cable.

Restart your Mac.

Reconnect the USB cable and wait for macOS to detect the printer.

Click the plus (+) button and re-add the printer. Choose:

HP DeskJet 4120e Series if it appears.

AirPrint as the driver (or HP Smart if available).

Install or Reinstall HP Smart

Although you’re using USB, the HP Smart app is required for setup and firmware updates:

Download HP Smart for macOS

Open it and follow prompts to add your printer.

Perform any suggested firmware updates or setup steps.

Update macOS and Drivers

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update

Install any macOS updates.

Check for printer firmware updates through the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
