My HP DeskJet 2755 printer has been stuck in an error state, the tiny screen has a blinking E, then the "i" and "color cartridge" lights are blinking and nothing can print. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi @Uhlj94,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a blinking light issue with your HP Deskjet 2755 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
  • Was there any recent update on the printer prior to the issue?
  • Do you see any Error message on the screen which shows E1, E2, E3, or E4?

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product

If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document: HP DeskJet 2700, 4100, 4800 Printers - Blinking Lights

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

1. We use the cartridges sent from instant ink.

2. I dont believe so.

3. It is just blinking E0 I think as well as other lights flashing, the wifi light, the color cartridge icon light and the "i" light.

This all seemed to happen after we switched the color cartridge. Im not sure if that has something to do with it but that was the most recent one we were sent.

Thanks!

@Uhlj94,

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate your efforts.

  • An E0 error indicates an unusable cartridge: This occurs when one or both ink cartridges need attention. Reseat both cartridges, clean the ink cartridge contacts, restart the printer, and replace one or both ink cartridges if necessary.

Try the single-cartridge mode

The printer you own can work in single-cartridge mode, wherein the printer will be able to print with one cartridge in the printer. This will help us identify if its a cartridge issue or a printhead issue

To try single-cartridge mode follow the below steps:

  • remove the black ink from the printer, leave the color in and try printing
  • then remove the color ink, insert the black  in and try printing

If the issue still persists, please follow the steps mentioned in this document:  HP Inkjet printers - Ink cartridge errors

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Okay I can try that. However, the printer won't connect to wifi for some reason after many attempts of restarting and trying through the app and online. Do you have any suggestions for that? I'm not sure if there is a bigger issue that is not allowing me to even connect.

Thanks!

@Uhlj94,

Thank you for your response, we have to restore the printer Wi-Fi settings back to defaults and then try to connect again.

To assist you better:

  • Is the blue Wi-Fi light solid on the printer? ( if the Wi-Fi Light is blinking then please re-connect the printer back to your Wi-Fi router - Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer, Once you restore the network to defaults, then please follow the instructions on this link to connect the printer back to your PC.)
  • Make sure the printer is located near the WiFi router.
  • Do you have a dual-band router?
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
  • What operating system is running on your PC?

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

It seems that no matter what I try, the Wi-Fi just will not connect. Would that just mean I need a new printer? Or could it have been caused from switching the last ink and maybe a new one would fix it?
