Good evening,

I have an HP Deskjet 4222e printer. Suddenly, I can no longer print or scan. The blue WiFi light flashes on the printer. I already have: - turned off and restarted the printer and the PC. - turned off and restarted the box. - on the printer: "red cross" to cancel any previous work, then simultaneously "red cross" and "wifi button". I also deleted this printer, and I can't re-associate it since it can't find wifi. I also followed all the solutions offered in HP Smart. All this without any results, which is why I am asking you. Would anyone be able to help me resolve my problem? I would like to point out that I am not a professional in computer manipulation; patience and ordinary language will therefore be welcome. Thank you in advance for your help.
(English is not my mother tongue, I am French.)

Hi @TataMarie63_80

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Hello! I understand your frustration with the HP Deskjet 4222e and the flashing WiFi light. I’ll guide you through a simple process to try and resolve this issue step by step.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • It sounds like you’ve already tried a reset, but let’s confirm that the printer is back to its default network settings.
  • To reset the network settings:
    • On your printer, press and hold the WiFi and Cancel (red cross) buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the WiFi light starts flashing.
    • This will reset the printer's network settings, and it will be ready to reconnect to your Wi-Fi.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • Once the printer has reset its network settings, you need to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi.
  • You should be able to reconnect it by using the HP Smart app (for both Windows and Mac) or the HP Wireless Setup Wizard directly on the printer.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your PC or phone.
  • Click on the + (plus) button to add a new printer.
  • The app should search for your printer. If it’s not found immediately, wait a moment for the printer to appear or try clicking on "Add Printer" again.
  • Follow the instructions on the app to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Wi-Fi button until the blue light starts blinking rapidly (indicating the printer is ready to connect).
  • Go to your computer or smartphone, search for the Wi-Fi network called HP-Setup.
  • Connect to this temporary network, then open a browser and follow the instructions to select your home Wi-Fi network and enter your Wi-Fi password.

Check Your Wi-Fi Router:

  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is working correctly and the printer can connect to it. Sometimes, the router's 2.4 GHz band can have issues, so if your router supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), make sure the printer connects to the 2.4 GHz band (which is often more stable for printers).
  • If you have other devices (like a smartphone) that are connected to the Wi-Fi, test that the connection is working properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
