Linux

Hi,

I have installed HP suggested Linux drivers (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) and performed head alignment a few times. The quality of the printing (test page) is good everywhere but in a certain region of the page (lower left quarter). Head alignment will not solve it, neither head cleaning. Is it something that can be caused by not using Windows/Mac as OS, i.e. can this be a problem caused by Linux, or should this be a problem of the printer. Printer is brand new and covered by guarantee, so I have to decide how to proceed.

Smells like ink cartridge problem.

Can you scan test page and post here so we can see?

Thanks for the feedback. Here you find a picture (not so good quality) for a test page. If you zoom in you will see that print is fine everywhere but inside the box below "Imageable Area". In that box text and numbers are blurry. Print is OK in other areas. Cartridges are the factory ones, perhaps the quality is not so good? I have spare ones (HP), should I use them?

Thanks in advance,

Lucas.

When you open cartridge access door so you can see inside printer you will see metal rod where ink cartridges move left to right above that rod there is thin plastic strip ( calibration strip) inspect calibration strip is it dirty or may be oily. Clean it gently with alcohol, don't use detergent or other cleaners.

When ink cartridges are moving printer knows their position because the calibration strip has small markers ( thin lines) that the printer reads if the strip is dirty printer gets wrong information.
