HP Deskjet 1112

(Posted twice, to move it to the correct area of the support site)

I bought an HP DeskJet 1112 for school in late 2017 or early 2018. It has always worked fine with my Macbook Air. Recently, I purchased an HP Envy x360.

Several days ago, I tried to print a document from my HP Envy, using the HP DeskJet, using the cable I have always used. I noticed a manual duplex printing option on Word (printing the odd pages, then the even pages) and clicked on it to try it. When I sent the job to the printer, the printer stopped working. Specifically, it showed an error message that it could not complete the job and paused the job. From the sounds coming from the printer, it sounds like there is a moving part that is jammed or otherwise stuck.

Switching the printer to my default printer did not help. Deleting and adding the printer to my computer's printer settings did not help. The HP Print & Scan Doctor indicated that the output tray was closed (it was open, and closing and opening it did not help). Doing a power reset and hard reset on the printer did not help, and attempting to use my old computer (a Mac) to print the document did not help. Is there anything else I can do, or should I just buy a new printer?

@marym21, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Make sure there are no papers jammed inside the printer. Perform the steps mentioned in this document - 'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays

Also, re-insert the ink cartridges.

Try to print a test page from the printer, refer to step 7 in this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello @kumar0307,

Thank you for the offered solutions!

There are no paper jams. I have verified that the carriage path is clear, followed the recommended steps, and reinserted the ink cartridges. I sent a test page to the printer. The document status immediately changed to "Error - printing" and the power light is flashing.
