I replaced the cartridge with genuine HP 61 color cartridge. HP Deskjet 1512 printer won't recognize the cartridge. I don't have the old cartridge as I always send them back for recycle. I have followed all the help, plugging and unplugging the cables, uninstalling and re-installing the driver. Nothing works. I see other post with the same issue, but with only a private resolution. How do I re-set the printer firmware?

I see that the printer is not recognizing the new/replacement ink cartridge.

 

Make sure the plastic tape if any, is removed from the new ink cartridge before placing it in the printer.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

 

Printer firmware cannot be reset on this model. This is not an issue with the printer firmware or printer driver.

 

If the error persists, this could be a defective ink cartridge. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

I have replaced the cartridge 3 times. All with original HP replacement. I have followed all the steps on the HP help site which includes turning off, unplugging the printer, cleaning the cartridge and carriage case contact points. I have also followed tips from the forum. Nothing works. Can the carriage case contact points break? If so, are there any replacement parts? Thanks
