HP Deskjet 2540 and Eero
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi there, hope everyone is doing well. I'm struggling trying to figure out how to connect my old HP Deskjet 2540 (AirPrint) to the Eero mesh network. When I try to connect the printer to the Eero network it doesn't work, while I try t do the same with a different wifi connection it works well.

It seems Eero does not support older encryption standards like WEP, WPA, or WPA2 TKIP but just WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption. Do you know if HP Deskjet 2540 supports WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption? Do you know if I could download any kind of drivers to update? Any other solutions?

Thanks in advance. Best regards, Piero

Hi,

Temporarily connect the printer with a USB, or temporarily disable the security for your router, connect the printer to the wireless network and update its Firmware, then it should be able to connect to the network with WPA2 security, when the latest firmware is installed:

Hi ShlomiL, thanks for your answer. I’ve followed your instructions and actually the printer connects regularly when security password is disabled. Then struggling I’ve solved through HP UTILITY. Hard but finally ok.

thanks a bunch

Piero
