My wife was cleaning the living room and disconnected the printer from the 'mains' for 30 mins

Prior to the disconnection the printer was working

The ink levels were 50% colour and 25% black

After reconnecting to the 'mains' the colour ink warning light flashes and the display is showing no ink levels for either the colour or black ink

I tried a factory reset and for a few secs the colour ink warning light went off and the correct ink levels were displayed

The printer then printed a perfect test page

After printing this test page the printer went back into the above fault mode

Any suggestions gratefully received

Hi @Brassy1154

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the  "low on ink error" issue.

Try power reset on the printer-

Reset the product

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

And try the steps in the document-Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

Also, check the ink level on the computer/phone.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

already tried that with no joy.

just tried again with same result

I am reluctant to buy another colour ink cartridge as if the printer is broken and needs replacing I will not be buying another

HP printer. I have had so much trouble with this printer.

Are there any other resets that can be carried out on this printer

thanks for your help

cheers

Allan

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
