I can’t turn off my printer without pulling the plug out and then get a message that I’m not closing the printer down correctly. Any advice please

What is causing the problem where you need to unplug the printer?

If the printer is stuck printing garbage (it has happened to me on more than one occasion) then yes,  a quick solution is to unplug.  Usually my cm1416 has a big red X that usually (but not always) stops the printing.

Once the printer is off, bring up the print queue (Windows, Linux, MacOS)  and cancel the job.  Otherwise the printer will resume printing more garbage once it is turned back on.

If this does not solve your problem when let me know.
