HP Deskjet 2755 Out of paper error

I'm experiencing a printer error on my Deskjet 2755.  It keeps saying that it's out of paper.  I've tried unplugging it, pressing the power and paper feed button with no luck.  I also tried updating the firmware, but it won't let me.  On the printer app, the curser wheel keeps spinning, unable to access the program.
