Hi @roanis

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing the image and details—this combo of a steady white “i” light and flashing blue wireless icon on your HP DeskJet 2820e typically signals a setup or connection issue, not a hardware fault.

Let’s walk through how to get it sorted.

What the Lights Mean

  • Steady white “i” light: The printer is trying to communicate an informational message—often related to setup, ink, or connectivity.
  • Flashing blue wireless icon: The printer is actively searching for a Wi-Fi network or trying to connect.
  • Display showing intermittent “0”: That’s part of the startup animation, but if it’s not settling into a ready state, something’s holding it back.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

1. Complete Wireless Setup via HP Smart App

  • Download the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  • Open the app and select Set Up a New Printer.
  • Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • This should stop the flashing blue light and clear the “i” alert.

2. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Make sure both black and color cartridges are installed correctly and that any protective tape has been removed.
  • Reseat them firmly and close the door.

3. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on—this can reset internal error states.

4. Update Firmware (if setup completes)

  • Once connected, go to the HP Smart app > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  • Check for firmware updates to ensure smooth operation.

If the issue persists even after setup, it may be worth checking for paper jams or running a factory reset. I can guide you through that too if needed.

Let me know how it goes—we’ll get this new printer behaving like it should.

Hi @Hawks_Eye ! Sorry for the late answer but i was away for a while.So...

1.Already tried before cannot complete setup via Hp Smart App because the phone doesn't find it(of course bluetooth activated ,location too)

2.Both black and color cartridges are installed correctly, protective taped has been removed also.

3.Did it for a lot of times...no luck

4.We tried to update the firmware via HP Tool, the printer is recognized but we have the error...download failed (as in attachments)2.jpg1.jpg
