I`ve used my HP Deskjet D1600 printer happily with my last PC. I have now bought a new PC running Windows 10 64 bit.
Not surprised to find the printer will not work. I have spent four hours trying everything: new drivers, Windows 10 drivers, Windows 8.1 drivers, HP solution & troubleshooting -- all without success.
The printer is showing on the system as a device -- but not as a printer. If I click on add printer it can`t be found.
Don`t know what else to do and can`t afford a new printer.
Please advise........
Thanks

@linkbekka, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Try Connecting the USB cable to different USB ports. A USB 2.0 port is required for the printer to work on the PC.
HP Full-featured drivers are not available for Win 10 Operating system for HP Deskjet D1600 Printer series. Let us try installing the printer Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver.
Follow the steps mentioned in this document.
Let me know how this goes.

Many thanks for your reply.
After two days of wrestling with this I remembered I have an identical HP D1600 after a delivery was duplicated.
I plugged that in the same USB port -- and suddenly the HP software installer kicked in and installed the printer. So problem solved -- but no idea why...! I had previously downloaded both Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 drivers after reading advice on older printers elsewhere. Perhaps one of them was right. So not help to anyone else I guess. Advice might be to just keep trying -- until you have no hair left...
Thanks again. Link Bekka

I have noticed that the printer is shown twice in printer preferences. The (copy) version is the one I`m using successfully.
Also found that the printing process when using Libre Office is incredibly slow. I have just tried both Word and Open Office and both print much quicker.
Not sure if any of this helps.
Thanks again.

Glad to know the issue is now resolved.
If the printing process is slow from a particular application like Libre office, then this could be an issue with the application as it is printing fine from other applications.
Try checking for any updates available for Libre Office or re-installing the application could help.
Keep me posted for any other assistance. Happy to help!
