Re: HP Deskjet F340 All-in-one Printer/Scanner/Copier Plugged into a HP Pavilion s5-1010 PC running Windows 7 with all current updates. Things were working fine and then they weren't. Printer keeps showing an error. I have unplugged everything, gave it some time, and then replugged it all back in. I have ran the troubleshooter which tells me the printer is off when it's on. It's about 8-9 yrs old and has been an excellent inkjet printer. I'm wondering about new cord(s). Should I replace both the power cord and the USB cord that runs to the computer even though I don't seem to be having an issue with power? Could it be the driver needs updating? Help! I need my printer working!

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues printing from your computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Are you able to make a copy?
Meanwhile, I recommend you root uninstall the printer and then reinstall it and check whether the issue is resolved.
Here is how it is done.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the PC
14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

It doesn't copy. When I turn it on all I get is an E. I unplugged the cord that runs between the printer and the computer and tried to make a copy but it doesn't work.
I copied down your instructions to do a root uninstall. When I go into Programs and Features I don't know which HP file to uninstall since none of them present as the HP printer. My options are:
HP setup; HP setup Manager; HP Vision Hardware Diagnostics.
Since my computer is also an HP, I'm uncertain what to uninstall.
Thanks for your time.
