HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the following printer:

HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer
Serial number: [edit]
Product number: CB584A
Purchase Date: 9/14/2007
Model: DJF4180

Connected via a USB cable to the following laptop:

HP 15 Notebook
[serial number removed]
Model: 15-1305dx
HP Notebook - 15-f305dx
Windows 10 Home (64 bit)

I downloaded and installed the latest software from HP:

Driver-Product Installation Software
HP Deskjet F2100/F4100 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver
Windows 10 (64 bit) Drivers
Type: Driver-Product Installation Software
Version: 14.8.0
Operating systems: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Release date: Aug 20, 2014
File name:DJ_AIO_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_140_404-4.exe

I get no error messages, scanning works fine, copying works fine.  When I print a document I see it go into the printer queue and then it disappears from the printer queue.  The document never prints.

I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the Driver-Product Installation Software multiple times. Any suggestions?

Welcome to HP support community.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

Read and respond to the screens in HP Print and Scan doctor to automatically find and fix any printer problem. After you have finished using HP Print and Scan Doctor, try to print.

Delete job files and restart

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button and then unplug the printer power cord from the power outlet.

  2. In Windows, search for and open Services.

  3. In the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and then select Stop.

Service window the Print Spooler service selected from the Name list and the Stop selection called out.

  4. After the service stops, close the Services window.

  5. In Windows, search for and open C:Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.

  6. Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder.

  7. Shut down your computer.

  8. Connect the printer power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the printer.

  9. Turn on the computer, and then try to print.

These instructions did not fix the problem.  Further, there is a missing step in these instructions.  Prior to trying to print again, I first needed to restart the printer spool.  After extensive research, I believe the problem has to do with the printer drivers.  The available HP Software that I downloaded from the website has a Release date: Aug 20, 2014.  I need updated drives for Windows 10 (64-bit) that supports HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer.

Perform root level uninstalltion to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

This looks like a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

It is not a hardware issue.  The printer works with my old Dell Desktop computer which has Windows XP.  Also, I have no problem using my Windows 10 HP Notebook to print using other printers.  The problem is that the Driver-Product Installation Software provided by HP has a release date of Aug 20, 2014.  It is not up-to-date so that my HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer can be connected to a Windows 10 machine.  I spent numerous hours trying to track down the printer drivers that will work with Windows 10.  I am now stuck with a perfectly functioning printer that I cannot use.  At this point, all that I want from HP Support is a money towards a new printer.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

@sandytechy20,

Your correct. It does install on that printer. Here is the complete package for that circa 2006/7 printer.
