HP Deskjet F4580 All in one
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Hi there

we just set up our Deskjet F4580 but the printer only 'prints' blank pages. We performed all steps of the cartridge head cleaning process, cleaned the paper pull, did the 'recentering' step and tried to print multiple test pages - all which came out blank even though the cartridges showed 50% fill on the HP utility program.

We then replaced the colour cartridge with a new one we'd bought and now we're getting some blue spots and sometimes a tiny yellow line, but that's it. Again we did the cartridge head cleaning process but that didn't work either. This time the cartridges show 100% on the program.

Can someone help?

Thanks

JJ Smythe

Hi! @JJSmythe, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand when you print from your printer the printer prints blank pages.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

Have you tried printing from a different application? Does the issue persist?

As you mentioned when you print from your printer the printer prints blank pages.

Try printing a test page from your printer and check if it the issue persists.

Replace low or empty ink cartridges on your printer.

Please try few steps recommended below.

* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

* Remove USB cable, if present.

* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

* Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test document and check if it works.

Check the print settings for your print job when using a Mac computer.

  1. Open a document, click File, and then click Print.

    The Print window opens.

  2. Select the Paper Type/Quality or Media & Quality menu.

  3. Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:

    • Paper type: If one of the options matches your paper type exactly, select that option.

    • Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality.

To save your settings for future print jobs, select Save in the Presets menu and then name the new preset.
