HP ENVY 120

After using this printer for years with no issues, I began getting some colored artifacts on the display.

Upon investigating I realized it was the ribbon cable that feeds into the display from the printer.

While its pretty obvious how to replace the end that goes into the printer, its >not< so obvious how to remove the old cable and  connect the end of the new cable into the display.   The answer is:  After removing the (4) small screws on the back on the display, use a thin knife to carefully peel the glass from the backing along the outer bottom edge.   It is glued.   Carefully separate along the bottom edge.  You do >not< need to remove the display from the hinges or anything else.  Just separate the glass from the backing along the edge after removing the screws and pull open like you are opening the jaws of a shark.  LOL.  Once you get it open wide enough you can get your fingers in there and open the hinge (pull up towards you with your fingernail) of the connector.  And pull that end of the ribbon cable thru and into the connector, and then close the hinge.  That's it!  then just close the glass against back against the backing and replace the screws.  Luckily I had an extra broken printer for parts so I was able to experiment.   Please send me a shout out if this helps you!   Good luck, zanzcat
