HP ENVY 4520
iOS

I have an HP ENVY 4520 that stops printer over AirPrint on my iPad.  I set the new printer up, configured it and was able to print to via AirPrint and Email.  After a few days, when I went back to print another document, the printer was not found over AirPrint.  I tried emailing to it and that worked for a day but then stopped all together.  I power cycled the printer and the router/WAP and was able to use AirPrint for another few days until it became unavailable again.  Since I can print I know it is set up correctly and meets the AirPrint requirments.  The support articles I have found are focused on it not working at all.   Recently, when AirPrint stops working, so does my ability to email to the printer.  The printer acts like it is not on the network, but it has an IP address and can conntect to the HP Printables web site. The printer and router are within 6 feet of each other.

What steps can I take to further troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in advance for the help

Hello, @Timismyscreenna  – Greetings!

Thanks for continued participation in the HP support forums! I would be glad to be of your assistance 🙂

I understand that you are trying to print from your Apple iPad and having issues while using the AirPrint feature. Did you try using the HP All-in-One remote app (HP AiO remote)? Go to Apple store, and download the HP AiO remote app and try printing using the app. Here are the detailed instructions: Mobile printing solutions for HP printers.

If the issue persists, then try using the AirPrint as suggested below:

  1. In the app that you want to print from, tap the Action icon ( or ) to display the menu options.
  2. Tap Print. The Printer Options menu displays.
  3. On the Printer Options menu, tap Select Printer. A list of available printers on the network displays.
  4. Tap your HP ePrint printer in the drop-down menu. The Printer Options menu displays again and shows your selected printer.
  5. If you do not need to change print options, tap Print to send the print job to the HP printer.
  6. If prompted for a password, enter 12345678 and check.

You can check http://hp.care/2dfqOrL for detailed instructions.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Have a great day 🙂

Sorry for the delayed response.  I have downloaded the HP AiO app and when I try to print via the app I recieve the message No AirPrint Printers Found.  I then try via HP ePrint and received the same error message No AirPrint Printers Found.  I know ePrint is enable.  On the HP Network Configuration Page under WiFi Direct Status is On and Security is On and has a 192.168.x.x address.

Hello, @Timismyscreenna

Thanks for the message!

Let's try the steps below to get the AirPrint feature working with your iPad 🙂

  1. Obtain the printer IP address by touching the "Wireless" icon on the printer control panel.
  2. Open a web browser on your PC, enter the IP address on the address bar to get the printer EWS page.
  3. Go to the "Network" tab.
  4. Select "AirPrint" - Make sure it is enabled.
  5. Go to Internet Printing Protocol - Make sure to enable the IPP.
  6. Also, go to "Advanced Settings" - Bonjour - enable the Bonjour.
  7. Apply and save the settings. Restart the printer and then try printing from the iPhone using the AirPrint feature.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

AirPrint was already enabled

IPP was already enabled.  Also was IPPS so I disabled that.

Bonjour was already enabled

Applied the changes of IPPS being disabled.

Restarted the Printer

I was able to successfully print one page.  When I went to print the second page, I received the same error: No AirPrint Printers are Available and the printer is no longer listed.

Thanks in advance for the next troubleshooting steps.  Tim

Hello, @Timismyscreenna

Try updating the printer firmware.

Go to http://hp.care/2p9yTIq to download and update the printer firmware. Restart the printer once done and check.

NB: You may need to use a MAC 10.11 or Windows PC to get the firmware download options.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

I peformed the factory reset.

Reconfigured the printer to join the WiFi network.

Checked for firmware updates.

Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8. abd 8.8.4.4.

Went through all of the previous setting on the post and in email.  Made sure IPv6 and WiFi Direct was turned off

Made sure Bonjor, AirPrint, and IPP were enabled.

Rebooted both the WAP and Printer.

The printer does not show up at all now.

Sigh.
