My printer was working a few days ago, and then I plugged it in and it won't work today. It's flashing E0, the information button, and the red X is illuminated. When I print i, it says the printer is not enrolled in HP instant ink, but it worked just a few days ago, so I don't understand what changed. I also can't figure out how to connect back to the wifi. Frustrating since it all worked fine up until now... Would be grateful for any help!

@Torywise, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your HP ENVY 6020 suddenly stops working, especially when it was fine just a few days ago. Let's walk through the steps to resolve the E0 error and get your printer reconnected to Wi-Fi.

What the E0 + flashing “i” and red “X” means:

The E0 error typically indicates a network or connectivity issue, often related to:

  • The printer being disconnected from Wi-Fi
  • HP Instant Ink enrollment issues (if previously enrolled)
  • A pending setup or incomplete wireless configuration

Step-by-step Fix:

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

Let’s start fresh by resetting the wireless settings:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless button 📶 and Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
  2. The Wi-Fi light should start blinking – this means the printer is in Wireless Setup Mode.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Use the HP Smart app to reconnect:

  • Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  • Tap “+” to add a new printer.
  • Follow the on-screen steps to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Make sure your phone or PC is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to connect to.

Check HP Instant Ink Enrollment

If the printer says it's not enrolled in HP Instant Ink but was working before:

  • Visit HP Instant Ink account page and sign in.
  • Check if your printer is still listed and enrolled.
  • If not, you can re-enroll or continue using standard cartridges (if applicable).

Print a Wireless Network Test Report

To confirm the connection:

  • Press the Information button (i) and Wi-Fi button together.
  • This will print a network report showing the connection status.

Still not working?

If the issue persists:

  • Try a power reset: Unplug the printer for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Make sure your router is working and not blocking new devices.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
