Hi @nonuthin,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY printer's lights are flashing and it's not functioning correctly, it might indicate a hardware or firmware issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Basic Troubleshooting

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the lights are still flashing.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer’s access doors and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any jammed paper carefully.

Check for Ink Cartridge Issues:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure that all cartridges are properly installed and seated.
  • Check for any protective tape or packaging that may not have been removed from the cartridges.

2. Reset the Printer

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Factory Reset:

  • If the hard reset doesn’t resolve the issue, you may need to perform a factory reset. Consult your printer’s manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset, as the process can vary by model.

3. Update Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and look for firmware updates for your specific printer model.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install any available updates.

4. Inspect Printer Components

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that all printer components, such as the paper feed rollers and printhead, are free of obstructions or damage.

Verify Connection Cables:

  • Check that all cables connecting the printer to your computer or network are secure and undamaged.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks - all I did was switch it off and on again and it seemed to be ok - but it was very weird

As a follow up to this, this has now occurred 3 more times, but each time unplugging and plugging back in seems to resolve the issue
