HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

My HP Envy 5055 Printer doesn't seem to want to print properly if being directed through my ASUS VivoBook (windows laptop).

It only prints light shades of blue and purple when I am trying to print black. But when i go through my android phone, it prints just fine (even though it wont allow me to choose how many images per page).

For reference, I have tried printing in Color, Monotone, and black/white while trying to print a b/w image. All have given more or less the same result via laptop, but not on the android.

I have shut off, waited 60seconds, and then turned on the printer.

I have disconnected and reconnected it to the wifi.

I have tried the HP Print and scan Doctor, and made sure all drivers and firmware were up to date.

I have cleaned the ink cartridges twice, both level one and two.

I have also removed and inspected the black cartridge, which was perfectly clean. Alignment was also fine.

I spent about 40 minutes on an HP customer service line, where the person had remote access, only for her to disconnect the call and shut down the interaction (i was not rude or impatient, but im pretty sure she ran out of ideas after the alignment attempt and then hung up. She did have my number to call back, but chose not to.)

Im at a loss of what to try next. I had tried everything that the rep tried even before speaking with her, but i was hoping she would know something i didnt.

Maybe i can get some help here.. until then i will keep trying to watch youtube videos in search of a solution. 😞

Hi @StormyH,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are not able to print from your laptop. I'd like to help!

This seems like a driver issue and I suggest we reinstall the same using the below steps to resolve the issue:

  • Press "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services - Go to "Print spooler" - Right-click and "Stop" the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type "spool" and ok - Go to the PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, unplug the USB cable from the printer (if present).
  • Go to Control panel - Programs and feature - Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to the Control panel - Devices and printer - Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type - "c:/programdata" - Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, and remove any printer-related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.

Then, use this link to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it : Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
