Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
If your HP ENVY 120 e-All-in-One Printer is stuck on the boot-up logo and you're unable to communicate with it via USB, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait: Leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug It Back In: Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.
2. Check for Error Messages
- While the printer is booting up, look for any error messages or indicators on the display. If there are any specific error codes, note them, as they can help in troubleshooting.
3. Perform a Hard Reset
- If the printer remains stuck, you can try a hard reset:
- With the printer powered on, press and hold the Power button and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 10 seconds.
4. Try Safe Mode
- Some HP printers have a safe mode or recovery option. If available, you can try accessing it:
- While turning on the printer, press and hold the Cancel button until you see the HP logo.
5. Check USB Connections
- Use a Different USB Port: Try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your PC.
- Different USB Cable: If possible, use a different USB cable to rule out a faulty cable.
- Direct Connection: Ensure you’re connecting directly to your PC and not through a USB hub.
6. Install HP Software
- HP Print and Scan Doctor: Although you mentioned it didn't work, try to run it again after the printer powers on correctly.
- Drivers and Software: Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your printer.
7. Update Firmware
- If the printer eventually communicates with your PC, check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or HP Software.
