HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer

My HP Envy 4520 printer stopped working. The touchscreen remains blank with only backlight on. I tried replugging multiple times. Nothing worked.

Looks like @Irwin6 was able to fix this but I am at a standstill at the moment.

Hi @Nickuss

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 4520 has a blank touchscreen with only the backlight on, here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Disconnect any USB or network cables.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and see if the display comes back.

2. Check Power Source

  • Ensure the power outlet is working properly. Try plugging the printer into a different outlet to rule out power issues.

3. Inspect for Overheating

  • If the printer feels unusually warm, let it cool down for a while before trying to turn it back on.

4. Factory Reset (if possible)

  • If you can access the menu before the screen goes blank, you may try a factory reset. However, if the screen remains blank, this might not be an option.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • If you manage to get the display working again, check for any firmware updates on the HP support website.

6. Inspect Connections and Cables

  • Check all internal and external connections for damage or loose connections. If you have a multi-function printer, ensure the connections to the scanner and other components are secure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
