Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Just bought a new floor model 5010 printer from Staples missing it's setup ink cartridges, from what the screen displays I need the setup carts.  I Have invested over $150  in new (HP certified) cartridges and the printer, just to find out I require these “Setup Cartridge” before I can use this printer

I have read that these are not sold separately and are required for setup. I also read that if not supplied to return unit. I did see in an earlier post that someone lost one of these Setup cartridges and was able to bypass this option with a power on reset of some sort (which was emailed and not in post - understandable). Tried the “Unplug under power, Hold Power switch in for 15 sec, replace power”. No luck.  Please is there any way to bypass this test so I may use my new printer? Please help. thanks in advance

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. We would have to perform an OOBE reset on the printer to bypass the error

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
