Hello all,
I have an HP Envy 5020 Printer. I have had it about a year and it's mostly been working fine.
However recently the black cartridge emptied and needed replacing. I have bought 2 replacement cartridges, but each time I try to print I am unable to.
The error message I receive is "The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. If this problem persists, replace the cartridges".
I have done this twice, but the printer does not recognise the new cartridges.
Can you please help me?
Many thanks,
leo

HI@leo1980,
A warm welcome to HP Community!
Most of the ink cartridge errors can be cleared by power resetting the printer, cleaning the cartridge electrical contacts and updating the printer firmware. Let's try these steps:
Please ensure the printer is up-to-date with its firmware. If you are unsure, you may use the steps available here to update the printer firmware.
1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector
2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door
3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)
4) Clean the electrical contacts, refer to step 4 from this document.
5) Plug the power cord back into the printer
6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.
Let me know how it goes!
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
