I have just started the Envy 5020 and does not print black text but will print colour text. Also photos have colour discrepancies and look sepia at times on the output.
thnx

@mangapapa, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Check the ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridge.
Clean the ink cartridges
-
On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.
-
If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.
-
NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.
Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report from the printer control panel, and then evaluate the results.
-
Load the printer with plain white paper.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Tools.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Hi Kumar
Thnx for reply. done all that but when I do the test page and alignment page they only have colour, no black. In excel I had numbers in black and then a negative number in red and it only printed the red number. Then highlighted all the numbers in dark blue being almost black and that printed but when put the numbers font colour in excel back to black then nothing printed.
From buying the printer I have only printed on about five occasions so cartridges are not empty and I saw a graph of them being half full.

This seems like a hardware issue either with the ink cartridge or the printer itself.
If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options.
You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
