Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Step 1: Use Compatible ink cartridges

Step 2: Clean the ink cartridges

  1. Load the printer with plain white paper.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  3. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

Step 3: Perform step 13 and 8 from this document.

Step 4: Use an alternate Black ink cartridge.

Let me know how this goes.

Hi this is a brand new printer and I tried all the steps above. What I have found is it will print if I set the paper as photo instead of plain. Very strange

@Jentas

  • Are you using a computer or a mobile device to print from? Which OS is installed?
  • Have you tried making a Black copy and check if that works?
  • Place a document on the scanner glass and hit the Copy>Black option on the printer.
  • If copy works fine with black, it is a possible driver issue and its not the Ink cartridge.

keep me posted for further assistance.
