- HP Envy 5032 stuck at initialization

I know this may have been asked before. My Envy 5032 (about 18 months -2 years old) is stuck showing 2 out of 6 dots when initializing. The progress bar below them goes all the way to the right and that's all. Power cycling makes no difference. I've had it powered off overnight and no change.
I can't get the ink cartridges out because they don't move and are under the right hand part of the housing.
I've downloaded the latest firmware and connected it via USB, but the update program doesn't list the printer.
I'm signed up to Instant Ink and was alerted by email to the fact that connection was lost on 20th Jan.
I feel there may have been an automatic firmware update but not sure. I have observed them before.
Is there a hard or manual reset I can perform? It's a shame it's out of warranty! Also disappointing as it's not really that old and not used that much.
Thanks.
John.

Hi @JohnnyD9999
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I get it, watching your printer freeze mid-initialization is like waiting for a plot twist that never comes. Let’s breathe some life back into it and get those gears turning again!
First, perform a hard reset. Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power outlet. Wait for 5-10 minutes to clear any residual power, then press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds while it's unplugged. After that, plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector) and turn it on.
If that doesn't work, you can try a factory reset. Turn off the printer and press and hold the Power button along with the Wi-Fi button (or Wireless & Cancel buttons) simultaneously for 10-15 seconds. Release the buttons when the HP logo or screen flashes and check if the initialization completes.
Next, try reinserting the ink cartridges. Turn off and unplug the printer, then open the ink cartridge access door. Gently move the printhead to the center manually if needed. Remove the cartridges and clean their chip/contact points with a dry cloth before reinserting them firmly.
Hope this helps get your printer back on track! 🖨️✨
Printers can be stubborn, but we’ve given it a good nudge. If it’s still stuck in limbo, let me know, and we’ll take it a step further, no printer left behind!

Hi,
No, it's still refusing to play. Re the ink cartridges, I can only remove the colour one, as the black one is hidden under part of the housing, which I'd need to dismantle to get at it. I don't want to have to remove screws because there are some which are inaccessible without removing other parts of the printer.
I can't move the cartridge carrier because it seems locked over to the right. Again it means dismantling it.
Any further suggestions welcome before I throw it through a closed window welcome!
Thanks,
John.
