HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

Hi folks, I'm looking for help with my HP Envy 5000 series. I have it set up and have run a "clean printhead" , "align printer" and "print quality report" processes.

In all these scenarios, it prints a plain white page with no smudges. This is despite my printer having decent levels of black and colour ink.

A few months ago I had run into this problem and found a youtube video which recommended taking out the ink pods and basically warming them up in warm water to dislodge the dried ink. I had done that, and then when it was printing I would get messy or incomplete prints. I gave up and am trying a few months later and now am back at square one with just no ink coming out.

What would you recommend I do?

Hi @FireZealot,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Envy 5055 All-In-One Printer prints blank pages despite having decent ink levels, the problem could be related to the ink cartridges, printhead, or the printer settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Remove and Reinsert the Cartridges: Make sure the cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and then reinsert them to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • Inspect the Cartridges: Look for any damage or leaks. If you see any physical damage, the cartridge may need to be replaced.
  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.

2. Clean the Printhead

  • Manual Cleaning: Since you've already run the automated cleaning process without success, try manually cleaning the printhead. Remove the printhead and clean it with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • Soak the Printhead: If the printhead appears clogged, you can soak it in warm distilled water for about 10 minutes to dissolve any dried ink. Make sure it's completely dry before reinserting it into the printer.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal software and resolve printing issues.

4. Check Printer Settings

  • Print Settings: Ensure that the print settings in the software or on the printer itself are set correctly for the type of document you are trying to print.
  • Print a Test Page: Try printing a test page from the printer's control panel. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware or the document/file you're trying to print.

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers  Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes, reinstalling the drivers can fix software-related issues. Uninstall the current drivers, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest drivers from the HP website.

6. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Genuine Cartridges: Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-genuine cartridges can sometimes cause issues with ink flow and print quality.

Additional Tips

  • Ink Levels: Double-check the ink levels through the printer software or control panel to ensure the levels are accurate.
  • Print Quality Settings: Set the print quality to a higher setting to see if that makes a difference.

I hope this helps.

Hi Gaya, thank you for your reply. I tried steps #1 in your recommendation and furthermore applied warm water to the ink well of the ink cartridge. After I did, when I pressed the ink catridges on a blank piece of paper I was able to get black and colored ink to come out.

As a test, I tried printing a print quality report. Now I get something to print but it is still very faint and not working properly. Please see attached image. WhatsApp Image 2024-06-18 at 18.48.38.jpeg

I can also confirm I am using HP original ink cartridges. I also did a power cycle and that did not fix the issue.

What do you recommend I do next?
