Thank you for joining the HP Community

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304881/document/c0291...

Restart the printer.

Clean the printhead or ink cartridge

If you found defects on the Print Quality Diagnostic Report, run an automatic tool to clean the ink cartridges.

NOTE:

To avoid issues that require cleaning, always turn the printer off with the Power button.

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon .

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer cleans the printhead and then prints a test page.

  3. Check the print quality of the test page.

    • If the print quality is good, touch Done.

    • If the print quality is not good, touch Clean Again. The printer cleans the ink cartridges again and then prints another test page.

Try to align the printer.

If the issue persists, refer to this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304881/document/c0374... and follow Step 12:

Thank you Raj. This was just too complicated for my computer skills, so I just ordered another HP printer. But thank you very much for your quick reply and input.
