Hi, I turned on my HP Envy 5540 Printer today, and it got stuck on this MFG Mode loading screen with the loading bar just going on forever. When I press the power button, it shows error code 0xb8604610. Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi @Ossie1011,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Envy 5540 being stuck in MGF mode, which is unusual and indicates a problem with the firmware or hardware. The error code 0xb8604610 might be related to this issue.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Reset the Printer:
- With the printer turned on, press and hold the "Power" button for about 15 seconds.
- Release the button and see if the printer restarts normally.
Firmware Reset: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If the printer is still stuck, you might need to perform a firmware reset. This usually requires special tools or support from HP, as it involves restoring the printer’s firmware to factory settings. Check the User manual for steps.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Ensure there are no paper jams or other obstructions inside the printer.
- If you recently replaced any components (like ink cartridges), ensure they are properly installed.

Thank you for your help! I have managed to perform a factory reset in my printer. I managed to get into this mode when holding down the power key, where there are three options; audit, menu and another option.
Thanks again!
