Hi @BridieG

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a serious issue with your HP Envy 6000 printer, where the display is not working and the lights are flashing without being able to connect to your device. This issue can be caused by several factors, including power issues, software glitches, or hardware malfunctions.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

A power cycle is often a quick fix for printer issues, especially if it's unresponsive or showing flashing lights.

  1. Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  2. Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
  3. Wait for about 60 seconds to allow any residual power to drain.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check if the display is now working and if the flashing lights stop. If not, proceed to the next steps.

2. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

If the power cycle didn’t help, a factory reset might resolve any software or network configuration issues.

Steps to reset the printer:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless button (the icon looks like a radio signal) and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds until the printer resets.
  3. Release the buttons and wait for the printer to restart. The printer should now attempt to reconnect to Wi-Fi (if previously set up), and the display may start working again.

3. Check for Error Messages or Flashing Patterns

If the lights are still flashing in a specific pattern, it can indicate a particular issue.

  • Check the light pattern: Flashing lights often correspond to specific error codes. Look up the printer’s manual or the HP support website for your specific model to find out what the flashing lights mean.
    • For example, flashing Wi-Fi and power lights might indicate a network issue, while a blinking attention light might indicate a paper jam or hardware issue.

4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

If the printer was previously connected to Wi-Fi but is not responding or showing a blank display, it could be a network issue.

  1. Turn the printer on and press the Wireless button.
  2. Use the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel (if visible) to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
    • Open the HP Smart app (on your smartphone or computer) and go to the Add Printer section.
    • Follow the prompts to connect the printer to the same Wi-Fi network as your device.

If you’re unable to reconnect via the app, try using the WPS method to establish the connection:

  • Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes of pressing the Wireless button on your printer.

5. Check for Paper Jams or Other Blockages

If there are any paper jams or physical obstructions inside the printer, it might prevent normal operation.

  1. Open the printer’s front and rear access doors and check for paper jams.
  2. Gently remove any stuck paper or debris, then close all doors securely.
  3. Try printing again to see if the problem is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
