HP Envy 6555e is unresponsive after several hours of inactivity. The touchscreen is lit but does not respond. The only way I can recover is by unplugging the printer then plugging it back in. Sooner or later the power cord will give out after this abuse (it's not easy to unplug)

Hi @ken400,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Firmware updates may fix bugs and improve the performance of your printer. You can check for updates via the printer's control panel or HP's official website.
Sleep Mode and Auto-Off Settings: Verify the settings for Sleep Mode and Auto-Off. The Sleep Mode reduces power usage during inactivity, but it should be responsive when you attempt to use the printer again.
- You can adjust these settings using the HP Smart app or from the printer’s embedded web server (EWS). You might want to set Sleep Mode to activate after a longer duration to see if this helps.
Reset Printer Settings: Resetting the printer to factory defaults may resolve any configuration issues that could be causing the problem. You can generally find this option in the setup menu on the printer’s touchscreen.
Environmental Factors: Ensure that the printer is in a stable environment, without exposure to high temperatures or humidity, which can affect the electronic components.
Power Source: Consider plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet instead of using a power strip, as HP recommends this to avoid power issues.
I hope this helps.
