Is anyone else having issues with the paper tray for the 6x4 photo paper?

 

I have had my printer replaced today but the issue is still the same, everytime i try to print photos on the 6x4 paper it says the tray is empty and to load paper. 

 

Is this a design fault with this model? Frustrating as its not one of the real cheap printers and its supposed to be designed to print photos.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer? (USB/Wireless)
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

While I wait for the answers, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check whether the issue is resolved.

If you continue to face the issue, I recommend you update the printer firmware following the steps in the below article and check whether the issue is resolved.

Thank you for your reply. After more than 90mins on the phone to the support team this morning, I am being sent another replacement. The advisor insisted it was not set up properly and spent ages trying to download drivers and software which took us to exactly the same options as in the Windows printer configuration. I was somewhat disappointed, nonetheless, we tried to print on the photo paper and it printed a few and then stopped despite there being paper in it.

 

I bought the Printer in May and have only just gone to print using the photo tray so im assuming the issue has always been there. I cannot say if the replacement is a reconditioned one, I suspect it is, so for all I know this could have had the same fault. I have agreed to wait for the 3rd unit, which I hope will work, but won't be surprised if it does not. The advisor did tell me all that can be done is replacements be sent to me, so if the 3rd one does not work I will have to wait for the 4th, and then the 5th and so on.

Got same model about 18months ago and got the same two issues as others ie

1. Keep getting Out of Paper message, when it is NOT. Annoying when I have to overide it to get prints and

2. Can't get sprinter to recognise Photo Tray despite downloading latest firmware etc etc. it make NO difference. Not pleased with HP quality!
