I am having a hard time printing JPG. and PNG. files from my main tray. I used to be able to do so ALL the time, but now I get a message error that says, "Photo tray is empty."

I have never tried to print these from the photo try. Why is it now assuming that that's where I want to print from?

I receive many files on a daily basis, that are PNG/JPG. I have to be able to print them for work.

Please help!

@HENDU31, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you using US letter size papers to print?

Which application do you use to print?

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

Check the print settings on the PC

Make sure the right paper size, paper type, and paper tray is selected before printing. Refer to this document to know the print settings.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Clean reinstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

Let me know how this goes.

Thank you for the reply! Please see my answers below.

Are you using US letter size papers to print? Just regular 8x11 standard paper

Which application do you use to print? When I print from my Metro Fax site, I save a tif. file. When I double-click, A PNG. file is created. I then print and in the past, it printed directly from my main tray. It does not anymore.

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists? Regular documents are no problem, they print with zero issue.

Somehow the print tray was switched to photo tray. I simply switched it back to main tray. Thank you!
